Bicicleta Sem Freio was approached by the founders of Alata to bring two vibrant murals to life in the heart of Gôiania, Brazil.
Alata’s refreshing culinary concept, founded by celebrated Brazilian chef Ian Baiocchi, is a contemporary ice cream shop with a focus on locally grown natural flavors and ethically sourced ingredients. Bicicleta Sem Freio approached the design process with a juxtaposition of urban and natural ideas, creating a dialogue between the industrial architecture of the Alata Sorvete’s flagship and the vibrant freshness found in the vast tropical savanna ecoregion of Brazil.
The sweeping mural design centers around two human characters interacting with the universe of ice creams and the flavors of central Brazil. Seriema, earth canary, and João de Barro Pequi birds, Araticum and Mango fruits, Milk, Cocoa, Coffee, Cashews, Passion fruit flower, and Baru seeds -highlighted in its depiction as an offering by "generous" hands- are some of the endemic flora and fauna referenced in Bicicleta Sem Freio’s colorful visual constellation.
Alata’s visual identity is seamlessly integrated into the composition through the central female character’s cap, featuring their inverted ice cream cone emblem.
Bicicleta Sem Freio and Alata share a creative ideal that’s undaunted by the exploration needed to innovate, always mixing new things to create a unique look and striking flavors.
