Bicicleta Sem Freio ("Bicycle Without Brake”) is the acclaimed Brazilian duo of multi-disciplinary artists Douglas de Castro and Renato Pereira. Founded in Brazil in 2005 and inspired mainly by rock illustrations and posters at the beginning, they became internationally famous for their illustrations and murals, whose visual style is so instantly recognizable and unique. Their sophistication is revealed by the complex yet harmonious layers of ideas they depict, rich in details and references. Showcasing an unexpected juxtaposition of psychedelic pop iconography, tropical colors and a spectrum of strange and wonderful characters, their work explores themes such as post-existentialism, global culture, and neo-tropicalism. Known for their large-scale public artworks and award-winning murals, which can be seen in major cities all around the world, their work also extends to fashion, brand collaborations, prints, and designs for some of the world's leading musicians and athletes. They currently live and work in Goiânia, Brazil.
“We truly believe that two heads always think better than one and art is something that can only improve if it’s built together. Our solo process is also integral because this definitely informs what we bring to the table when we work together. ”
